circa 1870, with blued octagonal 4 1/4in. barrel, radiused muzzle, solid top-strap thickened to allow for external ratchet indexing and signed 'C.H. GILKS & CO, TOWER HILL, LONDON', crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to top-strap, plain blued cylinder, cylinder arbor retained by a wing-nut, blued solid frame with external 'L' spring and signed 'W&S' with the 'winged bullet' trademark, polished double-action hammer and trigger, chequered walnut butt of pocket model form with shallow hump to rear and iron butt-cap with centrally stored ejector pin, the whole retaining the majority of its factory blued finish
